When I learned about this, we both discussed it between us and decided that we would try a natural alternative approach to help him, rather than a course of prescribed drugs that, as his doctor said, would have to be taken for the rest of his life.

We have friends who are taking noni juice for other health problems and are satisfied with the results, also I had heard people say, “drink noni juice and blood pressure will drop”. Reading booklets on the subject, such as “Hawaiian Noni Morinda citrifolia) by Rita Elkins. M.H., which I found very interesting, we were convinced of it’s therapeutic effects and decided to purchase a bottle from a reputable company.

After using it for a few months along with antioxidants and bio-available minerals supplements, the results were fantastic! My husband cholesterol is now normal.

We both continue to use noni periodically on a maintenance level. Here are certain ways that clearly shows how exercise helps to lower the blood pressure:

1. Regular exercise makes your heart stronger and this makes you heart pump more blood through out the body. It eliminates the effort for pumping the blood through out the body, as the effort is decreased, the force and the pressure on arteries decrease; hence the blood pressure is lowered.

2. Exercise helps you to keep yourself more active and when an individual is more active it helps to lower the systolic blood pressure. Systolic blood pressure is actually the top number when reading the blood pressure. Exercise surely decreases the need for medication.

3. Exercise also helps you maintain your blood pressure and restricts it from rising.

4. Exercise maintains your weight, it is another way to control and maintain the blood pressure.

5. Aerobic exercises are also a very important and handy way to control the blood pressure

Today I'd like to share some helpful information about how youcould use potassium to lower your blood pressure naturally. One of the most important nutrients for your body when it comesto treating high blood pressure is potassium. You probably knowthat bananas are high in potassium, even if you don't reallyknow what potassium is or what it does for the body.Potassium is an element and a nutrient that is required by thebody. It allows muscle contraction and helps send nerve impulsesthrough the body. Potassium can also help the body remove waste. The interesting thing about potassium is that too much sodium inthe body can keep potassium from working as it should. Even ifyou're getting enough potassium, which most people aren't, ifyou're also getting a lot of sodium you could be missing out onthe healthy effects. Further, diuretics can flush potassium as well as sodium fromthe body, giving you even more of a deficit than you started outwith.Researchers at Duke found that getting more potassium couldlower blood pressure by as many as 20 points for people most atrisk for high blood pressure. Other studies have foundreductions of around four points for systolic pressure and twopoints for diastolic pressure, about half the reduction usuallyseen when using blood pressure lowering drugs. It is possible to supplement potassium (though the potassiumsupplements sold over the counter have very small amounts ofpotassium and larger doses are only available by prescription)but the best way to get more potassium is through diet. Recentstudies have found that the type of potassium found in mostfoods is as effective at lowering blood pressure as the typeavailable in supplements. The recommended daily allowance for potassium is 4,700milligrams, though most people get much less than that. Here are some foods that are high in potassium:Foods with Potassium -- Serving Size -- Potassium (mg) --------------------------------------------------Apricots, dried -- 10 halves -- 407 Avocados, raw -- 1 ounce -- 180 Bananas, raw -- 1 cup -- 594 Beets, cooked -- 1 cup -- 519 Brussel sprouts, cooked -- 1 cup -- 504 Cantaloupe -- 1 cup -- 494 Dates, dry -- 5 dates -- 271 Figs, dry -- 2 figs -- 271 Kiwi fruit, raw -- 1 medium -- 252 Lima beans -- 1 cup -- 955 Melons, honeydew -- 1 cup -- 461 Milk, fat free or skim -- 1 cup -- 407 Nectarines -- 1 nectarine -- 288 Orange juice -- 1 cup -- 496 Oranges -- 1 orange -- 237 Pears (fresh) -- 1 pear -- 208 Peanuts dry roasted, unsalted -- 1 ounce -- 187 Potatoes, baked, -- 1 potato -- 1081 Prune juice -- 1 cup -- 707 Prunes, dried -- 1 cup -- 828 Raisins -- 1 cup -- 1089 Spinach, cooked -- 1 cup -- 839 Tomato products, canned sauce -- 1 cup -- 909 Winter squash -- 1 cup -- 896 Yogurt plain, skim milk -- 8 ounces -- 579 For more detailed information on how you can lower your blood pressurenaturally, and potentially stop taking your blood pressuremedications, you'll want to be sure to head on over towww.BloodPressureNormalized.com/myhbpreport and get a copy of our step-by-step report today! Here's that link again:http://www.BloodPressureNormalized.com/myhbpreportYours for excellent health,Joe BartonFounder, www.BartonPublishing.com

Tips for lowering your blood pressure

Tips for lowering your blood pressure:
Smoking is the single greatest risk factor for developing coronary heart disease (CHD). By stopping smoking now, you can greatly reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure and CHD.
A diet that is lower in fat and high in fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy foods significantly and quickly lowers blood pressure, according to the findings of a nationwide trial funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Also, by reducing salt (sodium) intake, blood pressure can often be lowered. Sodium intake promotes water retention, which can add to the blood volume and, subsequently, raise blood pressure.
Studies have shown that body weight, changes in body weight over years, and body mass index have important effects on blood pressure. Overweight people are much more likely to have high blood pressure. It has also been used for indigestion and loss of appetite, as well as for colds, respiratory problems, and circulation disorders.

Resource:http://www.warisherb.com/malaytea/

Tomato extract may help lower blood pressure

Tomato extract may help lower blood pressure

2006/1/13
By Amy Norton NEW YORK, Reuters Health

A dietary supplement derived from tomatoes may help treat moderately elevated blood pressure, the results of a small study suggest.
Researchers in Israel found that a daily dose of tomato extract helped lower blood pressure among 31 men and women with mild hypertension. This "oxidative stress" is thought to contribute to a range of chronic diseases, including heart disease.

The antioxidant effects of the tomato extract may explain its apparent benefit on blood pressure, according to the report in the American Heart Journal.

People who have mild high blood pressure or who have high-normal blood pressure would be the "ideal candidates" for treatment with the extract, said study co-author Dr. Esther Paran of the University of the Negev in Beer Sheva. It's these individuals, she noted, who are often advised to use lifestyle changes to rein in their blood pressure levels.

However, people who are already being treated for high blood pressure should talk with their doctors before trying tomato extract, Paran told Reuters Health. Blood pressure is considered normal when it is below 120/80; anything between that and 140/90 is considered "prehypertension."

Study participants spent 4 weeks taking a placebo, or inactive, capsule each day, after which they were given a tomato extract capsule every day for 8 weeks. Finally, they spent another 4 weeks on placebo capsules. LycoRed-Natural Products Industries, the maker of Lyc-O-Mato, supplied the extract.

During the treatment period, the group's average systolic blood pressure fell from 144 to 134 mm Hg, while their diastolic pressure dipped from 87.4 to 83.4 mm Hg.

At the same time, blood samples showed that certain markers of oxidative stress had declined -- suggesting that the supplement's antioxidant activity was responsible for the blood pressure benefit, according to the researchers. Eating a diet rich in tomato products and other antioxidant-containing fruits and vegetables is certainly a smart move, Paran said. But, she added, a person would need to down about four tomatoes to get the nutrients in one tomato extract capsule. In addition, Paran said, lycopene and other antioxidant compounds in tomatoes are fat-soluble, so they are more readily absorbed when taken with the oil used in the capsule.

However, she and her colleagues note that larger and longer-term studies are still needed to determine where tomato extracts fit into high blood pressure management.

What Is High Blood Pressure?

High blood pressure is a blood pressure reading of 140/90 mmHg or higher. Both numbers are important.

Nearly 1 in 3 American adults has high blood pressure. Once high blood pressure develops, it usually lasts a lifetime. The good news is that it can be treated and controlled.

High blood pressure is called the silent killer because it usually has no symptoms. Some people may not find out they have it until they have trouble with their heart, brain, or kidneys. When high blood pressure is not found and treated, it can cause:

The heart to get larger, which may lead to heart failure.

Small bulges (aneurysms (AN-u-risms)) to form in blood vessels. Common locations are the main artery from the heart (aorta); arteries in the brain, legs, and intestines; and the artery leading to the spleen.

Blood vessels in the kidney to narrow, which may cause kidney failure.

Arteries throughout the body to "harden" faster, especially those in the heart, brain, kidneys, and legs. This can cause a heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, or amputation of part of the leg.

Blood vessels in the eyes to burst or bleed, which may cause vision changes and can result in blindness.

What Is Blood Pressure?

Blood is carried from the heart to all parts of your body in vessels called arteries. Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries. Each time the heart beats (about 60–70 times a minute at rest), it pumps out blood into the arteries. Your blood pressure is at its highest when the heart beats, pumping the blood. This is called systolic (sis-TOL-ik) pressure. When the heart is at rest, between beats, your blood pressure falls. This is the diastolic (di-a-STOL-ik) pressure.

Blood pressure is always given as these two numbers, the systolic and diastolic pressures. Both are important. Usually they are written one above or before the other, such as 120/80 mmHg (measured in millimeters of mercury, a unit for measuring pressure). When the two measurements are written down, the systolic pressure is the first or top number, and the diastolic pressure is the second or bottom number (for example, 120/80). If your blood pressure is 120/80, you say that it is "120 over 80."

Blood pressure changes during the day. It is lowest as you sleep and rises when you get up. It also can rise when you are excited, nervous, or active.

Still, for most of your waking hours, your blood pressure stays pretty much the same when you are sitting or standing still. That level should be lower than 120/80 mmHg. When the level stays high, 140/90 mmHg or higher, you have high blood pressure. With high blood pressure, the heart works harder, your arteries take a beating, and your chances of a stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems are greater.

What Is Normal Blood Pressure?

A blood pressure reading below 120/80 mmHg is considered normal. In general, lower is better. However, very low blood pressure can sometimes be a cause for concern and should be checked out by a doctor.

Doctors classify blood pressures under 140/90 mmHg as either normal or prehypertension.

Normal blood pressure is lower than 120/80 mmHg.

Prehypertension is blood pressure between 120 and 139 for the top number, or between 80 and 89 for the bottom number. For example, blood pressure readings of 138/82, 128/89, or 130/86 are all in the prehypertension range. If your blood pressure is in the prehypertension range, it is more likely that you will end up with high blood pressure unless you take action to prevent it.

What Is High Blood Pressure?

A blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg or higher is considered high blood pressure. Both numbers are important. If one or both numbers are usually high, you have high blood pressure.

If you are being treated for high blood pressure and have repeated readings in the normal range, you still have high blood pressure.

There are two levels of high blood pressure: stage 1 and stage 2 (see the chart below).

Categories for Blood Pressure Levels in Adults (in mmHg, millimeters of
mercury)a

Category

Systolic (top number)

Diastolic (bottom number)

Normal

Less than 120

Less than 80

Prehypertension

120–139

80–89

High blood pressure

     Stage 1

140–159

90–99

     Stage 2

160 or higher

100 or higher

a

For adults 18 and older who are not on medicine for high blood pressure; are not having a short-term serious illness; and do not have other conditions, such as diabetes and kidney disease.

Note: When systolic and diastolic blood pressures fall into different categories, the higher category should be used to classify blood pressure level. For example, 160/80 mmHg would be stage 2 high blood pressure.

There is an exception to the above definition of high blood pressure. A blood pressure of 130/80 mmHg or higher is considered high blood pressure in people with diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
